Shoot with intention
This is more important than anything else: intention. Do not just shoot a photo, shoot with intention. Shooting with intention is always more necessary than anything else. Make the composition and wait for the correct moment to take the photo. Do you know what the biggest difference between a professional and an amateur is? Not just the camera and its settings. It’s about the purpose. It is more important to treat your phone camera as a camera. Slow down, think, and bring your thoughts into your composition.
Composition
Try to make compositions that are unusual, meaning something you do not usually see with your eyes. Maybe take a low angle, maybe from above, maybe something that drags the attention of a viewer into your photo. To make this kind of composition, you need to see a lot of photographs from different photographers. While seeing others’ work, ask yourself why you like the photo, what is dragging you towards the photo, and why you stopped.
